We’re so excited to announce that Patty Lyons will be visiting us September 30-October 2! Patty is a nationally recognized knitting teacher and technique expert who is known for teaching the “why” not just the “how” in her pursuit of training the “mindful knitter.” She specializes in sweater design and sharing her love of the much-maligned subjects of gauge and blocking.
She has taught nationally at guilds and knitting shows around the country. In addition, Patty’s designs and knitting articles have been published in Vogue Knitting, Interweave Knits, Knit Purl, Knitter’s Magazine, Cast On, Knit Style, and Creative Knitting magazines. Her designs have also been used by Classic Elite, Noro, Cascade, Tahki Stacy Charles, and Kollage Yarns.
Patty’s classes, both live and online, are extremely popular and routinely sell out. We’re excited to have Patty here for three classes and her highly enjoyable and interactive presentation, “Oops, I Accidentally Knit a Dress (Tales of Lies, Heartbreak and Denial).”
Here is the schedule of events. Make sure to click through to our website for more details.

We are in love with Kelly Clark’s new Stumpwork Sampler canvas! If you are interested in learning dimensional stitching, check out her posting for this new project on her Needlepoint Handbook site. We will definitely be stitching this Sampler and will offer it as a class in 2013. If you’d like to try it on your own, contact 3 Kittens Needle Arts to order your canvas today. Kelly has also published a 20-page workbook, but she has also posted photos of her techniques as inspiration!
The Binnacle Room, Pool & Yacht ClubWe all had a wonderful time at the Small Bites Needlepoint Workshop this weekend! Our instructor, Diane, guided everyone through the stitch guide and demonstrated some of the trickier stitches and embellishments. The canvas and stitch guide are 3 Kittens Needle Arts exclusives – a team collaboration with Raymond Crawford and the 3K Staff of Diane, Olivia, Sara and Julie. We held the workshop on Saturday at the Pool & Yacht Club in Lilydale in their Binnacle Room. With windows on three sides, we had tons of natural light and all enjoyed a view of the Mississippi River.
Fuel to get us through the afternoon!
We even noshed on appetizers during our break – yummy! There is even talk of planning a Fall Stitching Cruise on the River – stay tuned for details!
In case you’re wondering what you can possibly do with the swatch that you will be making in Brandon Mably’s Persian Poppies Workshop, check out the Ravelry project gallery for the original pattern by Kaffe Fassett!
Get motivated and inspired by acknowledged color master, Kaffe Fassett! Kaffe’s presentation will highlight works from his latest projects, including patchwork quilt, fabric, needlepoint, mosaic, painting and knitting designs. A tremendous amount of Kaffe’s inspiration comes from his travels, and his lecture is designed to empower and inspire his audience to create and develop their “mind’s eye.” Audiences leave invigorated – entranced by Kaffe’s sense and use of color, they are ready to try it themselves! The slide show and lecture lasts approximately 45 minutes, followed by a question and answer session and book signing.
